Verified issue does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

What happened?

I deployed the latest Edge version via Fly. This worked perfectly until I realised that the notes to two of my Credit Card accounts were not loading on mobile (iOS). The notes box just said "no notes". After about two minutes the notes eventually loaded.

Oddly, this was not an issue (a) for my other account notes (b) or on iPad OS or on (c) laptop.

I redepoyed to Fly using Latest and the issue resolved itself.

May be related to recent changes in the Edge version?

How can we reproduce the issue?

Deploy edge. View on mobile/iOS. Examine each accounts note.

Where are you hosting Actual?

Fly.io

What browsers are you seeing the problem on?

Firefox, Safari

Operating System

Mobile Device

Yes good call - I think it may well be related! I have many accounts in Actusl but noticed that these two credit card accounts were much slower on their initial load and then of course even slower for the notes to load.

Might it be that for me it was credit cards that were suffering more than other accounts, simply because it was taking longer to calculate a negative running balance as opposed to a positive one??

The running balance itself is basically instant to calculate, but something about that change had caused other things to load very slowly. I'm versed in react well enough to have a good idea why

FYI, commented on the original thread here - https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/issues/5308#issuecomment-3070708943 TL;DR - I'm also experiencing slow loading on mobile as well as memory spiking on my AB's Pikapod.

@matt-fidd thank you. I cannot reproduce in edge at the moment on mobile. However, when I reported the issue previously it was when mobile running balances were enabled in edge. The two seemed to be related?

Ah of course, in that case this is fixed for now, but we'll see what happens when mobile running balance is brought back.
