Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

I currently have 3 Groups for "shared", "me", "partner. Within each group are same name categories. This causes issues when viewing transactions since it's hard to identify which group the category is in. The current workaround for this is to put the group within category name such as "shared/groceries" instead of just "groceries".

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

Would be nice to have Group as a column or pre-appended to category column.

This would allow better filtering, sorting, etc. when viewing transactions.

Thanks for sharing your idea!

This repository uses lodash style issue management for enhancements. That means enhancement issues are automatically closed. This doesn’t mean we don’t accept feature requests, though! We will consider implementing ones that receive many upvotes, and we welcome contributions for any feature requests marked as needing votes (just post a comment first so we can help you make a successful contribution).

The enhancement backlog can be found here: https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/issues?q=label%3A%22needs+votes%22+sort%3Areactions-%2B1-desc+

It seems to me that you're making two separate (but related) feature requests: one is to display Category Groups when viewing transactions, and the other is to include Category Groups in exports. There is already another pre-existing feature request for the latter: [Feature] Export category groups in csv #2095.

Yes that pre-existing feature request is one aspect of it. This ticket I guess could be about displaying Category Groups in the Transactions page.
