Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

When needing to backup the files, prior to doing an update, because my wife and I have separate accounts, including one for her business account as well as a time budget account, plus one for her mother, we have multiple files to export.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

It would be nice to have the option to Export All from the Files page. An interim step would be to have Export as an option in the 3-dots options connected to each file, rather than needing to open each of the files, go to Settings, go to the bottom and select Export.

Regarding being the one to implement the feature, I'd be willing to take a stab at it. Although, I don't have any experience with TypeScript, I've worked in Python, having completed the CS50P course. And I almost daily work in the PowerApps platform (Power FX). Also, some experience with VBA, HTML, CSS, C, PHP.

Teaching and learning

It should be added to the docs: https://actualbudget.org/docs/backup-restore/backup - I could likely assist with writing up the description.

Thanks for sharing your idea!

We will consider implementing ones that receive many upvotes, and we welcome contributions for any feature requests marked as needing votes (just post a comment first so we can help you make a successful contribution).

I would think this would help with being able to test during the development process. A dev could quickly export to back-up their files, implement the code changes, and import the files to see the impact.
