Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

As a new user, I did not immediately recognize that pull down menus were in fact clickable pull downs. I have seen several other new users have similar confusion, most notably with the "edit transaction" pulldown in the top right of the account register:

As well as the edit payee menu on the payee screen:

Something about the UI makes it easy to miss, or possibly to assume this is simply a count of your selections and not an actionable button.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

One option is to make the drop down button more noticeable. It could be with a UI change to the arrow or element box, or simply adding the word "edit", as I think that's a typical menu option most users expect to see.

Another solution could be simply moving this edit dropdown to the left near the other action buttons, or even swapping it with the "Filter" menu.

This would create logical groups for actions (Import/Sync, Add and Edit) and for view/filters (Search, Filter, Expand Splits)

Not sure how to similarly improve the payee screen though. It's only two options, so maybe a drop down isn't needed?

Teaching and learning

update to the documentation to reflect the new UI
