Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

As indicated by https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/issues/2963, I'd also like to be able to quickly identify overspent categories.

One way to do so would be to add one or more filtered views to show only underfunded/overspent categories, but it could also be extended to enable users to create custom filters to quickly views categories.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

a banner with buttons at the top of the budget view, where we can quickly click to filter categories. Overspent / underfunded button could be set as default. A "new" button could be added to create a custom filter by selecting categories you want into this filter, and name it. It would then be added to the buttons' list.

Teaching and learning

  • Documentation on how to use filtered views
  • Documentation on how to create a custom filter

Thanks for sharing your idea!

This repository uses lodash style issue management for enhancements. That means enhancement issues are automatically closed. This doesn’t mean we don’t accept feature requests, though! We will consider implementing ones that receive many upvotes, and we welcome contributions for any feature requests marked as needing votes (just post a comment first so we can help you make a successful contribution).

The enhancement backlog can be found here: https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/issues?q=label%3A%22needs+votes%22+sort%3Areactions-%2B1-desc+

Right above:

This repository uses lodash style issue management for enhancements. That means enhancement issues are automatically closed.
