Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

I just upgraded to the latest Actual version and noticed the new tag implementation. Thank you for implementing this, it looks like a feature desired by many.

For me personally, it unfortunately has a few side effects:

Many notes from merchants include # characters, turning them into undesired hashtags. I personally don't have a need for tags, so this release is unfortunately a step back for me, since I cannot find an option to turn tagging off and it cluttering my interface.

The solutions available to me aren't great either:

  • Remove all Notes -> They have important info I'd like to preserve
  • Do some processing to remove all # characters from notes -> Might be a path, but not sure how I can do this

Feature request:
It would be great if tags could simply be turned off as a setting, or alternatively tweaking tag detection to avoid picking up these accidental ones
