Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

At the start of the month, I like to rebalance my last month's budget sheet to match the spent amount so that I can total up how much money I i didn't use in the end.
In YNAB, there is the "Balance to 0.00" context menu action when right clicking on a subcategory, and it would be really helpful if Actual had the same thing? Because right now I have to manually go to each subcategory and type in the spent amount in the budgeted.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

In the context menu for each subcategory (where it has "Copy last month's budget" and "Set to yearly average"), a new item (maybe called balance to zero?) in which after clicking on it, the budgeted amount is set to the spent amount.

Teaching and learning

Actual has a cleanup function that may help you. Check out the Budget automations in the experimental features.
