Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

When planning a holiday or other things, one books and pays for stuff in advance.
Then the problems arrives, should the date of the transaction be placed on the date of payment or the date of when (fx. the flight) is being used.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

I want an option to separate the two. Can set the date of the transaction for when you bought it, but the date of spending so that the statistics of when you spend money align.
Otherwise I would not spend anything during holiday season, but spend it all beforehand.

Teaching and learning

When making a transaction and setting the date, have a small drop down menu where it states "Date of spending" with a small question mark icon to click on for more information.

This makes zero sense financially.

'When the money will be used' isn't a thing. It’s literally just about when money enters the account and when it leaves.

Think about it: if any developer actually listens to you and implements this, how are you supposed to reconcile your bank statement?

You want to log money that has already physically left your bank account, but you want Actual to act like it’s only leaving later just for the sake of a pretty graph.

It makes zero sense. If you shift the dates like that, your app balance will never match your real bank account balance again
