There's a little bit of discourse in this discussion 28. However, I'd suggest we make this the 'official' tracking issue (and we can break it into sub-issues as/when things are fleshed out).

Afaik, the closest comparison to what users would like is YNAB Targets.

Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
