Ondřej Surý 3a6a0fa867 Replace DE_CONST(k, v) with v = UNCONST(k) macro
Replace the complicated DE_CONST macro that required union with much
simple reference-dereference trick in the UNCONST() macro.

Ondřej Surý 46f06c1d6e Apply the semantic patch to remove isc_stdtime_get()
This is a simple replacement using the semantic patch from the previous
commit and as added bonus, one removal of previously undetected unused
variable in named/server.c.

Evan Hunt e914c5e194 add basic test for TSIG key dump/restore functionality
stop and restart the server in the 'tsiggss' test, in order
to confirm that GSS negotiated TSIG keys are saved and restored
when named loads.

added logging to dns_tsigkey_createfromkey() to indicate whether
a key has been statically configured, generated via GSS negotiation,
or restored from a file.

Ondřej SurýandOndřej Surý 6ffda5920e Add the reader-writer synchronization with modified C-RW-WP
This changes the internal isc_rwlock implementation to:

  Irina Calciu, Dave Dice, Yossi Lev, Victor Luchangco, Virendra
  J. Marathe, and Nir Shavit.  2013.  NUMA-aware reader-writer locks.
  SIGPLAN Not. 48, 8 (August 2013), 157–166.
  DOI:https://doi.org/10.1145/2517327.24425

(The full article available from:
  http://mcg.cs.tau.ac.il/papers/ppopp2013-rwlocks.pdf)

The implementation is based on the The Writer-Preference Lock (C-RW-WP)
variant (see the 3.4 section of the paper for the rationale).

The implemented algorithm has been modified for simplicity and for usage
patterns in rbtdb.c.

The changes compared to the original algorithm:

  * We haven't implemented the cohort locks because that would require a
    knowledge of NUMA nodes, instead a simple atomic_bool is used as
    synchronization point for writer lock.

  * The per-thread reader counters are not being used - this would
    require the internal thread id (isc_tid_v) to be always initialized,
    even in the utilities; the change has a slight performance penalty,
    so we might revisit this change in the future. However, this change
    also saves a lot of memory, because cache-line aligned counters were
    used, so on 32-core machine, the rwlock would be 4096+ bytes big.

  * The readers use a writer_barrier that will raise after a while when
    readers lock can't be acquired to prevent readers starvation.

  * Separate ingress and egress readers counters queues to reduce both
    inter and intra-thread contention.

Petr Špaček 53b3ceacd4 Replace #define DNS_NAMEATTR_ with struct of bools
sizeof(dns_name_t) did not change but the boolean attributes are now
separated as one-bit structure members. This allows debuggers to
pretty-print dns_name_t attributes without any special hacks, plus we
got rid of manual bit manipulation code.

fixed time should be used and the value of that time.

Ondřej Surý 58bd26b6cf Update the copyright information in all files in the repository
This commit converts the license handling to adhere to the REUSE
specification.  It specifically:

1. Adds used licnses to LICENSES/ directory

2. Add "isc" template for adding the copyright boilerplate

3. Changes all source files to include copyright and SPDX license
   header, this includes all the C sources, documentation, zone files,
   configuration files. There are notes in the doc/dev/copyrights file
   on how to add correct headers to the new files.

4. Handle the rest that can't be modified via .reuse/dep5 file. The
   binary (or otherwise unmodifiable) files could have license places
   next to them in <foo>.license file, but this would lead to cluttered
   repository and most of the files handled in the .reuse/dep5 file are
   system test files.

Ondřej Surý 2e3a2eecfe Make isc_result a static enum
Remove the dynamic registration of result codes. Convert isc_result_t
from unsigned + #defines into 32-bit enum type in grand unified
<isc/result.h> header. Keep the existing values of the result codes
even at the expense of the description and identifier tables being
unnecessary large.

Additionally, add couple of:

    switch (result) {
    [...]
    default:
        break;
    }

statements where compiler now complains about missing enum values in the
switch statement.

Evan Hunt b0aadaac8e rename dns_name_copynf() to dns_name_copy()
dns_name_copy() is now the standard name-copying function.
2021-05-22 00:37:27 -07:00
Ondřej SurýandEvan Hunt ce3e1abc1d Use dns_name_copynf() with dns_message_gettempname() when needed
dns_message_gettempname() returns an initialized name with a dedicated
buffer, associated with a dns_fixedname object. Using dns_name_copynf()
to write a name into this object will actually copy the name data
from a source name. dns_name_clone() merely points target->ndata to
source->ndata, so it is faster, but it can lead to a use-after-free if
the source is freed before the target object is released via
dns_message_puttempname().

In a few places, clone was being used where copynf should have been;
this is now fixed.

As a side note, no memory was lost, because the ndata buffer used in
the dns_fixedname_t is internal to the structure, and is freed when
the dns_fixedname_t is freed regardless of the .ndata contents.

necessary to allocate a buffer for temporary names associated with
the message object.

Ondřej Surý 6afa99362a Remove duplicate INSIST checks for isc_refcount API
This commits removes superfluous checks when using the isc_refcount API.

Examples of superfluous checks:

1. The isc_refcount_decrement function ensures there was not underflow,
   so this check is superfluous:

    INSIST(isc_refcount_decrement(&r) > 0);

2 .The isc_refcount_destroy() includes check whether the counter
   is zero, therefore this is superfluous:

    INSIST(isc_refcount_decrement(&r) == 1 && isc_refcount_destroy(&r));

Evan Hunt 13c799267b remove the 'new_tsigkey' exception, allow TSIG to be set any time
this allows 'dns_message_settsigkey()' to be run any time after

2019-01-30 11:46:11 -08:00
Evan Hunt 33ec311332 allow TSIG key to be added to message structure after parsing
up until now, message->tsigkey could only be set during parsing
of the request, but gss-tsig allows one to be created afterward.

this commit adds a new flag to the message structure, `new_tsigkey`,
which indicates that in this case it's okay for `dns_message_settsigkey()`
to be run on a message after parsing, without hitting any assertions due
to the lack of a TSIG in the request. this allows us to keep the current
restriction in place generally, but add an exception for TKEY processing.
it's probably better to just remove the restriction entirely (see next
commit).
